Keep it Cool. Actually, room temperature is enough as long as it's dry and away from sunlight. Sunlight will break down the components of your perfume and change the odor. Heat will oxidize the chemicals and spoil it. It will produce a pungent smell a while after application. The humidity of moist areas will also change the smell of the perfume.
Some poeple store their perfume in the refrigerator. It's not all that bad. It can give you a refreshing cool mist when applied. However, it can only work for Eau de toilettes and Eau de parfum. Expensive Perfumes wiht higher concentration of essential oils should be kept at room temperature so that it stays fluid and not viocous.

Spray Happy. Make sure that perfume bottles are well sealed when stored. It is advisable to buy one that has a spray top packaging than a splash bottle. This will prevent the scent from escaping and wasting into the air. A spray top will also produce a more even and diffused application than dabbing with your fingers. It'll save you those precious fragrant drops. In the end you'll be able to make yout scent worth your cents.

Relearn Your Chemistry. Be sure that the perfume works well with your body chemistry. When components of the perfume mix with your sweat, the scent can change a lot. The food you eat, especially spicy food, can also affect how the scent will turn out when you put it on. Other habits like smoking and alcohol can also affect the resulting scent on your body.

Smell the Beans. Shopping for fragrances can be fatiguing for your nose. Start with light fragrances before you move on to the heavier and bolder scents to avoid olfactory overload. Also it is less tiring to smell fragrance when they are different and not on the same tone so alternate between fresh and aromatic fragrances before you check out the bolder woody scent last. You can also refresh your olfactory palette by smelling coffee beans in between your fragrances. It cleanses your palette to let you appreciate the scents better. Most fragrance bars should have those ready for their shoppers.

Identify the Millieu. The temperature of the invironment has a major influence on the fragrance. Cold weather can hinder the alcohol component from evaporating and consequently the release of the scent into the air. Hot weather can easily exhaust and vaporize the alcohol so you'd have to refresh once in a while.

Pick the fragrance that is appropriate for the occasion or activity. It's advisable to have more than one fragrance to choose from depending on the event. The perfume you'll wear in a formal affair should be different from what you'll wear at a sporting event. Otherwise, you'll end up smelling noxiously intoxicating.

Better with Testers. Testers are there to help you decide the fragrance to buy. Use it. First spray it on the tester strip then apply it on your wrist. See if there are any changes. Don't smell it right from the bottle. I've seen poeple do that and it look so primeval and moronic. It doesn't work that way.
